PEI refers to polyetherimide, which is an amber transparent solid. It has inherent flame retardancy and low smoke without adding any additives. The oxygen index is 47%, the combustion level is UL94-V-0, and the density is 1.28. ~1.42g/cm3. PEI has strong high temperature stability, even non-reinforced PEI still has good toughness and strength. The long-term creep resistance of polyetherimide under high temperature and stress allows it to replace metals and other materials in many structural devices. Shows good electrical performance under variable temperature, humidity and frequency conditions. The low loss factor at GHz frequency makes polyetherimide high in microwave penetration. It has a low level of ionic pollutants, 100% R at 250F. H. The conductivity after water extraction at 207kPa for 120 hours is above 20 megohms, and it can be used as an insulating material for electronic sensor components.
1. Main features of PEI
1. The Chinese name of PEI (polyetherimide) is an amber transparent solid, with good flame retardancy and low smoke, and the combustion rating is UL94-V-0.
2. PEI has strong high temperature stability. High temperature resistance, heat distortion temperature up to 220 ℃, can be used for a long time under the working temperature of -160 to 180 ℃.
3. Good hydrolysis stability, high temperature resistance and steam resistance.
4. Polyetherimide has good UV and Y-ray resistance.
2. Application areas
Due to its excellent comprehensive balance performance, PEI has been effectively used in the electronics, electrical and aviation industries, and used as a metal substitute for traditional products and cultural and daily necessities. Using PEI instead of metal to make fiber optic connectors can optimize the component structure, simplify its manufacturing and assembly steps, and maintain more precise dimensions. Used in the automotive field, such as the manufacture of high-temperature connectors, high-power car lights and indicator lights, sensors for controlling the temperature outside the car cabin (air conditioning temperature sensors), and sensors for controlling the temperature of the air and fuel mixture (effective combustion temperature sensors). It can also be used as a vacuum pump impeller resistant to corrosion by high-temperature lubricating oil, a ground glass joint (receptacle) of a steamer operating at 180°C, and a reflector for non-illuminated anti-fog lamps.
